Branchera Villa Asuka, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
Built 150 years ago, this is an old private house hotel, a registered Tangible Cultural Property, the exterior and layout of which have been renovated to retain as much of the original form as possible. The hotel is located on the atmospheric road leading to Asuka Niimasu Shrine and its surrounding streets within the protected area of the historic ruins of Asukadera Temple. There are two guest rooms, the Akane-no-Ma (92m²) and the Yamabuki-no-Ma (85m²). The spacious rooms allow the guest to relax as if they were in their own homes. Each residence has its own Shigaraki-ware ceramic bathtub bath (Akane no Ma has one of the largest Shigaraki-ware bathtubs in Japan). Guests can also enjoy mist saunas. Meals include the famous Asuka hotpot (which uses chicken and milk as ingredients) from the famous local restaurant Mendoya for dinner. Please note that, in principle, the hotel does not cater for vegan cuisine, but if Asuka hotpot is not available, a traditional Shokado bento lunch can be provided (if details of dishes and ingredients are provided in advance). The hotel is unmanned and contact is unavailable except between 15:00 and 18:00 (there are days when reception is not open). Inbound customers are also served by AI interpretation.
